Though Lester is no longer with us, his articles are. This site will continue to give access to Lester's postings. Below is a brief biography of Lester, with more information on his Bio page. Lester B. Searer, Jr., 82, of Delroy, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning, December 20, 2006 at the York Hospital. He was born and raised in Lewistown, PA as the son of Martha and Lester B. Searer Sr. After graduating from Lewistown High School, Lester entered the U.S. Army Air Corp and received training as a P-47 fighter pilot. He graduated from Parks College of St. Louis University in 1948 with a degree in Airframe and Engine Mechanics. While at Parks, he met and married his wife of 59 years, Janice Vonnahme, of East St. Louis, IL. Lester left a successful career with Union Carbide Corp. in New York City in 1963 and built Margaretta Mobile Home Park on the Margaretta Furnace property near East Prospect. He spent many years working with heavy equipment and enjoying the outdoors maintaining the property. Lester is survived by his wife, Janice, a sister, Jean McKinley of suburban Philadelphia, 5 children, Alan B. of Jacksonville, FL, Kenneth J. of Cerritos, CA, Louise E. Crumbling of Spring Grove, Robert L. of Hellam and Lynn E. VanHouwe of York and 8 grandchildren, all of whom loved him and will miss him very much. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe R. Searer.
