In the past, Christian leaders have taken the lead in changing government.

Open Letter to Religious Leaders
And Anyone with a Genuine Concern for Our Country

Our Founders worked long and hard to form a country which came to be known as a CHRISTIAN COUNTRY GOVERNED BY THE RULE OF LAW. They warned us that it could be easily lost. Among those who understand what has taken place in our country in recent years, most would agree that we are no longer a CHRISTIAN COUNTRY, nor are we GOVERNED BY THE RULE OF LAW.

While this has taken place over a considerable period of time, changes have accelerated out of control during the last four years under President G.W. Bush. Our president reminds us often that he is a Christian, but the Bible states that "by their fruits ye shall know them." Has his conduct in office been consistent with his profession?

Prior to assuming office, our president took an oath, pledging that he would uphold the Constitution of the United States. Don't we have the right to expect that this means to tell the truth, obey the laws, enforce the laws and operate within the bounds of the U.S. Constitution? Yet, he has demonstrated a TOTAL DISREGARD for this oath.

  1. He chose not to investigate the myriad charges of wrongdoing by members of the previous administration, virtually destroying the checks and balances absolutely essential to the proper workings of government.

  2. He signed into law a campaign finance reform bill that he acknowledged was unconstitutional.

  3. He has signed several budgets loaded with PORK, which is nothing less than buying the votes of citizens.

  4. He stands idly by while officials of various federal agencies refuse to enforce the laws that they took oaths to enforce.

  5. He has refused to include in campaign rhetoric any discussion of SERIOUS problems facing our country.

  6. He obviously makes no effort to see that the citizens are ACCURATELY informed about the issues of the day.

  7. He has started a war against a nation that has never been a threat to our country. This is not even a WAR, but masses of women and children are being killed or are suffering as a result, as well as thousands of military personnel. A war is between identifiable groups of people or nations. This is neither.

  8. Etc., etc., etc., …

Since he has demonstrated that he has no interest in abiding by the Constitution or enforcing the laws of the land, we therefore must DEMAND THAT HE RESIGN OR BE REMOVED FROM OFFICE.

Since the vast majority in the Congress are eager supporters of any or all of the above, if any change is to be made it must come from the citizens themselves.

Some have stated that when, in the past, a change in the direction of government is needed, CHRISTIAN leaders have taken the lead in demanding that the necessary changes be made.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of Christian leaders today have supported the leaders responsible for a government that is now TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL. Is there anyone who would not expect Christian leaders to know right from wrong and therefore have no part in supporting political leaders who seem to have no concern for anything except getting or staying in office and holding or getting party power?

There are none of us who haven't made bad decisions. But supporting the most powerful man on earth who has repeatedly demonstrated no concern whatever for his oath before God is totally inexcusable. Such can't help but be a major sin in the eyes of God. But He has made a way of escape by way of repentance. I humbly and respectfully ask any and all who have supported G.W. Bush to repent and ask God how YOU can truly represent HIM in seeking to return our country to one where He is revered and put at the center of government.

The Scriptures also tell us that in the last days we will ALL stand at the feet of God and give an account of deeds done in the flesh. If you have been supporting those who have been a part of the devastating policies that pervade every aspect of our lives, will God be apt to say, "Well done, my good and faithful servant?" Isn't this the hope of any and all of us who profess to be servants of God Almighty?

Having spent much time in D.C. talking with leaders of all kinds, I firmly believe that there are few who realize how close we are to a total collapse. Most all people in leadership positions are so focused on their own immediate interests and concerns that they just don't take the time to consider the long term effects of the trends running rampant in our country today.

It is long past the time when Christian leaders should DEMAND that our political leaders take their oath before God seriously and those who violate that oath must be removed from public office. Every one of us will answer to God for our response to the corruption so rampant in our country today. As God's messengers on earth, you have a special responsibility to review your ordination commitments and God's calling on your life. YOU WILL answer to God for deeds done in the flesh.

Does anyone have the courage to take the lead in demanding our government leaders take seriously their oath before God? What is more important to YOU: your relationship with God or G.W. Bush?
