Racial Profiling

There is no such thing - please consider.

Rarely does a day pass that someone doesn’t make a statement using the words RACIAL PROFILING. It has become so common that it is accepted as having real meaning, when, in fact, PROFILING is a neutral term, having nothing to do with. a specific race.

According to law enforcement people, PROFILING is the study of the characteristics of people who commit certain crimes. The purpose is to narrow the field of people to seek out in order to solve or prevent a specific crime. While many times the result may not reveal any specific group, there are times when the result does suggest that people who can be identified in one way or another are in fact far more likely to commit the crime in question than those of other identifiable groups. When the group so identified happens to be a racial group, apparently this is when the word RACIAL is added.

Using the results of a profiling study is the most logical way to seek out those who do harm to others and therefore protect the lives and property of law abiding citizens. Therefore, adding the term RACIAL to the term PROFILING is an illogical combination of terms and has resulted in taking the focus off the specific group of people most likely to commit a crime.
